Functional Diagnostic Laboratory Tests

Family Doctors of DuPage makes use of the newest procedures and tests from both traditional and alternative medicine in an effort to discern existing disease pathology and health impediments as well as to prevent problems.

We work with several laboratories including the Great Smokies Diagnostic Lab. and Biohealth Diagnostics. Usually specimens are shipped by Airborne to insure integrity of outcome. Many involve blood specimens, some urine and saliva. We also do testing on hair and stool samples.

By combining the best diagnostic tools, comprehensive history taking and an in-depth patient encounter, we work to sort out the intricate interplay of systemic, environmental, social and emotional factors that can affect a patient's state of health.

In addition to conventional lab tests, we also can perform the following:

  • Hair Analysis for heavy metals and minerals
  • Whole Blood Vitamin Analysis
  • Comprehensive Digestive Stool Analysis
  • Functional Liver Detoxification Profile
  • Intestinal Permeability Assessment
  • Plasma Amino Acid Analysis
  • Comprehensive Parasite Profile
  • Comprehensive Cardiovascular Risk Assessment
  • Female Hormone Profile
  • Adrenal and Ovarian Salivary Hormone Tests
  • Allergy Blood Testing for Inhalants and Foods
  • Intracutaneous Skin Testing and Desensitization of Food Sensitivity
  • Allergy Skin Testing for Inhalants
  • ALCAT Testing
  • Candida Immune Complexes
  • Menopause Profile
  • Comprehensive Thyroid Hormone / Function Analysis
  • Hormone Testing and Balancing

Hormones play a huge role in how you are feeling. To help assess the function of your hormones, a number of tests can be done. These include auxiliary temperature measurements, blood tests, and a salivary hormone analysis. Salivary hormone measurement is an excellent way to measure certain hormones because it measures the all-important "free" fractions of hormones.

Hormones from the pituitary gland, adrenals, thyroid, ovaries, and testes. This allows precise evaluation of your hormone levels, and helps determine what type and amount of hormone support you need. Hormone support ranges from supporting the necessary endocrine glands with nutriceuticals and herbs and lifestyle changes to simply replacing what's missing in the most natural molecularly identical way possible.

Conditions that can be impacted with hormones include PMS, menopause, stress and burnout, fatigue, hypothyroidism, decreased libido or impotence, mood swings, depression, and hypoglycemia.

Hormone replacement is done with hormones that are identical to human hormones, and not hormone look-alikes or extracts of concentrated pregnant horse urine that are so widely used in women today. Hormones can be taken as capsules, sublingual tablets, or transdermal creams that are specially compounded by top quality compounding pharmacies.
